This song started on the Maschine. It was only bussed to Ableton for “better” mixing and mastering. It is inspired by an old friend of mine who I played many musical theater jobs with, and a few jazz trio gigs. The theater jobs were almost exclusively with Underscore Theater, though I do remember one with another company, but I don’t remember their name. I remember the band being on stage, and the theater was on Ridge road in Chicago.
My friend was very much into game music, and many times we did a few of those tunes on our jazz gigs in the group Professors on Furlough. They were generally quite fun songs to play, but I honestly did not take them as seriously as I should have.
All of the shows I did with my friend he played the Zendrum. It is really a unique MIDI controller, and is very reminiscent of Future Man’s Drumitar.
