We started our chickens long before everyone went crazy over egg prices. It was something we wanted to try as soon as we finally got a home of our own. We wanted to make sure that our kids knew food does not come wrapped in plastic, and that there is so much more involved than just going to the supermarket.

Composting

We started composting as a group in our community garden, and this eventually evolved into a couple of indoor bins in our apartment. Once we moved into our new home, I added bins to support the growing family.
